ADA/508 Compliance

In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies to make electronic and information technology (IT) accessible to people with disabilities. Section 508 was written into law to eliminate barriers in IT and make available new opportunities for the disabled and encourage innovation of technologies to achieve these goals. As such, the U.S. Department of Justice Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) began publishing accessible design standards.

Global Cloud believes all sites should be 508 compliant, but not all organizations have adhered to these guidelines. In reality, having a section 508 compliant site not only helps those with disabilities who use text readers and other assistive technologies, but it will help your overall search engine ranking and provide a better user experience.
